Our World Language Department includes 3 levels of Spanish:
Spanish 1, Spanish 2, and Spanish 3. We use a series of texts called EN ESPANOL, which present vocabulary and grammar concepts in a logical sequence, as well as spiral those concepts throughout the series to reinforce previous learning.
Students are active in the classroom, listening and responding to exercises which use the voices of native Spanish speakers, viewing the video story which continues throughout the texts, and writing/performing short pieces and dialogues of their own creation.
The goal for all of our Spanish classes is to make Spanish a usable tool with which to explore our world.
To that end, projects such as travel brochures, posters, and scripts, which connect the Spanish language and culture to the students' own lives, are a vital part of the Spanish experience at CAHS. Watch this space for future links to see what our students have created in their second language.
